In Matthew 13: 52, Jesus said "Therefore, every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven, is like a head of a household who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old." The Book of Zechariah has the greatest number of eschatological visions and prophecies in the entire Old Testament. In fact, we are about to realize that the entire Book is eschatological. It is also God's Attic where He has stored those things he wants to have revealed in these last days. This includes the Lampstand of His Purpose. Zechariah Chapter 4 begins, "Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and roused me as a man who is awakened from his sleep. And he said to me, 'What do you see?' And I said, 'I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold….'" It is probably of great importance in God's grand purposes that Zechariah had to be awakened so that he might see the lampstand, not unlike what we are experiencing right now. But this is also about the roll of the scribe in this generation in which we live. The scribes of Jesus' day were strongly criticized for wanting to see a "sign". Jesus Himself called them an "evil and adulterous generation" (Matt 12: 39 - 45) and really condemned them in Matt 23, culminating in the "guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from Abel to (Guess who?) Zechariah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar." Is it so surprising that few people have even wanted to go near the role of the scribe for 2000 years? However, the Grace of God is limitless. Now, fifty generations later, He has revived the roll of the scribe, made him a Disciple of the Kingdom of Heaven, and assigned him the task of bringing forth the Lampstand of His Purpose from His treasure. Which brings us to the very reason that this Web site exists. It is quite simply because there is no place in this world any darker than the Internet, and it is getting darker. Through this message of God's Lampstand, added to all the other efforts of the saints, perhaps we can pierce that darkness and "Spend the night within that house and consume it" (Zechariah 5:1-4).
