The
"Kings of the West"
Were Present
at that Meeting
in the Azores
Before the War

(Although it's not exactly necessary, this article is best understood if you've also read the previous one on the
"War with Iraq"
.)

Did you ever notice that in the Book of Daniel, after the Kingdom of Greece is ushered in by Alexander the Great's conquest of the Medo-Persian Empire, his kingdom is immediately divided into four separate kingdoms? (Dan 7: 6 and 8:21-22, also Dan 11:3-4). Daniel Chapter 11 then recounts a continual running confrontation between "The King of the South" and "The King of the North". Many scholars believe that the original King of the South was Egypt, and the King of the North was represented by Syria. There is considerable actual history of wars in the region over the years to support their conclusion.

Actually, the entire 11th Chapter of Daniel is a prophetic view of these conflicts, right up to the coming and the demise of the Anti-christ Ruler. (Watch for a separate article here in the future, clarifying this statement. It's too big for a rabbit trail right now.)

While these two kings and their descendants have pretty much kept the middle east in the same state of turmoil, distrust, and wickedness that we see today, the "King of the East" has disappeared until stirred up by "rumors from the east" (Dan 11:44) and "that the way may be prepared for the kings of the east."(Rev 12:16)

Therefore, we have successfully accounted for three of the four "horns" or kingdoms that Alexander the Great spawned in the dissemination of his original Greek kingdom.

So where has "The King of the West" been for the entire above span of years? The closest thing in Scripture that would fill the bill is in Dan 11:30 when "ships of Kittim" (Another name for Cyprus). Those same scholars, who tracked North and South in such reliable actual history, would have us believe this was the Roman occupation of the Holy land. That has some merit, since Cypress did not likely have a navy, nor are they apt to get one soon. All Cypress had going for it in Daniel's vision/message from the angel was the simple fact that they were the only really known landmass in a westerly direction. Why then is there no mention of a "King of the West?"

I believe it is because it was not time for God to bring forth the King of the West until the historic meeting of those four nations in the Azores as a final step in the planning for the war in Iraq. This meeting had huge significance both on earth and in the heavenlies. Here is why:

Only four nations were represented at that table in the Azores. The United States, Great Britain, Spain and although they did not really have a vote, God sent a representative from Portugal. That last minute addition to the meeting of Portugal was God setting his seal upon the process. (Most of South America still speaks Portuguese.)

These same four attending nations, USA, Britain, Spain and Portugal were the four great "Colonial Sea Powers" who discovered, explored, civilized and brought Christianity to the Western World. WE may think we know what's going on, but our God has a much better view.

How wonderfully appropriate that a Christian President and a force of "Young Lions" should lead this powerful coalition that would strike such a significant wound against the forces of evil. (Young lions is also a wonderful rabbit trail, too.)

In closing, I would also like to offer a couple of other thoughts that might tend to support my contention that we Christians are also the "Kings of the West".

1. We Christians are called "a nation of kings and priests."

2. We have a righteous leader who comes from a great western "kingdom" called Texas. (The Europeans call him a Cowboy)

3. If you look on the globe, you will find that the Azores are due west of Cyprus on just about the same degree of latitude.
