Why the Excitement Over the Movie "The Passion of Christ" Is Just the Beginning of Events.
 

These are truly awesome days in which we live. Never has man had so many resources to communicate all kinds of information, good, bad and irrelevant. It must be a lot like the period leading up to the first time Our Lord Jesus came to this earth. Back then it was a relatively simple task for God to allow Alexander the Great to conquer the entire then civilized world, so that the Gospel could have one common language in which to go forth.

It's a little more complicated this time, as God prepares to make a statement about His Son which could very likely preface His second coming. He has once again chosen the mode of communication of the people. This time it is not just a lot of words aimed at a largely uninterested, unbelieving and indifferent audience that stopped reading a couple of generations ago. This time God is using a truly astounding array of graphics and visual statements to cut through the clutter of messages and distractions of this world. All that's happened in man's ongoing love affair with better and better means of communication instead has really been to serve God's Purpose for this day.

That is why this film, "The Passion of Christ" has burst upon us at this time, It slaps all humanity up beside the head in a bold, clear, conscience wrenching statement. A confrontational God is telling this generation,

"THIS IS MY BELOVED SON. HE DIED AN AGONIZING DEATH FOR YOU. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE?"

It's probably a watershed event for a huge number of individuals. Many will respond and accept the sacrifice and the eternal life that the Blood of Jesus provides. However, a tragic number of people will reject, procrastinate, or ignore the simple, powerful statement that their eyes have just seen. With seared conscience and intellectual deception, they will not comprehend. Sad, but probably all too true.

There are at least two very important Kingdom by-products that will usher forth in this day from this powerful and anointed film. The first one is this:

FOR ALL OF US THAT NAME THE NAME OF CHRIST, WHETHER WE CALL IT COMMUNION, OR THE LORD'S TABLE, OR ANY OTHER IDENTIFIER, IT WILL TRULY NEVER BE THE SAME FOR US. " DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME" NOW TAKES ON A STAGGERING NEW AWARENESS AND IMAGERY. THE PRICE HE PAID SEEMS EVEN GREATER, HIS BLOOD MORE PRECIOUS STILL.

The second very important by-product of this film's impact will be a whole new "explosion" of the power-packed truth of the Gospels. Whole new revelations in these wonderful God-breathed writings will begin to surface, blessing both saint and sinner alike in a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

A few years back, when I first began to beseech the Lord about the coming of Elijah, He told me that it would be when the Gospels would go forth in great power. It would be just as it was in the days of John the Baptist, who came in the spirit and power of Elijah. This time it is the real deal. Elijah must come first, and so, with the Passion of Christ film, AND the lesser noticed film, "The Gospel of John" also presently showing in a number of theatres, the time of Elijah's coming may be upon us.
